Contracting (契約, Keiyaku) is the act of bonding a Diviner and Divine Spirit in a symbiotic partnership. The art of using the connection and power gained from this contract is called Divining.

Types of Contracts
Blood Contract
The Blood Contract is the main way that people bind themselves to their Divine Spirit. An oath is taken between the Divine Spirit and the Diviner and their blood is drawn and mixed, creating a bond with between the two. This bond can rarely be severed until the death of the Diviner. On occasion, the contract becomes visible on one or both of the contracted Divine and Diviner's body. In the case of Briar Rose, it is the rose vine tattoos she bears on her legs.
Temporary Contract
A temporary contract is very rarely done. When a spirit or diviner is in trouble, they may call out to have a temporary contract. This type of contract is based on words alone and does not have any blood drawn or contracts signed.
